(New York, NY – November 8, 2010) – Thirty Seconds To Mars picked up their 4th EMA award last night in Madrid when they were announced the winners of the 2010 Best Rock Band Award. Previous EMA wins include the 2007 “Rock Out” award and both the “Rock Out” and “Video Star” awards in 2008. It was a massive night for Thirty Seconds To Mars in Madrid last night. Not only were they nominated in 3 categories, they performed a show-stopping performance of their new song “Hurricane 2.0” featuring Kanye West for the first time on television and for the first time with Kanye West himself. Earlier this year they won the 2010 MTV VMA for Best Rock Video for “Kings & Queens,” the first single/video from their new album This Is War.

As announced last week, Thirty Seconds To Mars will release a deluxe edition of This Is War tomorrow, November 9th. The deluxe album features “Hurricane 2.0” feat. Kanye West, live versions of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” and Kanye West’s “Stronger” which the band recorded for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, the “Kings & Queens” and “Closer To The Edge” videos along with bonus DVD content (full track listing below). The new edition of the album also has four different covers and an entire new look and design. This Is War was originally released in December, 2009 and has been certified gold in 6 different countries around the world including Germany, South Africa, Austria, Belgium and a double gold award in the UK. It follows 2-consecutive #1 singles at the format. “Kings & Queens” and “This Is War.” Besides their MTV VMA and EMA wins this year, Thirty Seconds To Mars was also named Best International Group at the 2010 Kerrang! MTV: Kanye West's EMA Cameo Was 'Last-Second,' 30 Seconds To Mars Say

'We knew it was going to be imperfect and a bit of a beautiful disaster,' Jared Leto tells MTV News.

MADRID — Without a doubt, the biggest shock of the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards was Kanye West's surprise performance with 30 Seconds to Mars at the iconic Puerta de Alcala. But if you think you were surprised, well, then you should have seen how the guys in 30STM reacted when 'Ye showed up.

"This wasn't even last-minute, more like last-second," frontman Jared Leto told MTV News backstage at the EMAs. "Literally a day and a half ago, he was in New York and he got on, literally, the last flight, he made it out here. It's really a testament to him. ... I mean, Kanye West flew halfway across the world to be on the stage with 30 Seconds to Mars for a short period of time."

And, in keeping with the whole last-minute vibe, West and 30STM decided just moments before stepping onstage that they wanted to change their performance up. Originally, they were set to just perform the version of "Hurricane" that appears on 30 Seconds' upcoming reissue of This Is War, but then they decided to include a snippet of Yeezy's "Power" as well.

"We were backstage and, literally, right before we went on -- maybe five minutes -- we were making changes, and Kanye said, 'Well, maybe we'll play a piece of "Power" in the middle of the song,' and we were like, 'OK, let's go for it,' " Leto smiled. "It was thrown together last-minute, and rather than try to make something perfect, which is a silly thing, we really just embraced it as much more of a punk affair. We were all laughing with each other beforehand, because we knew it was going to be imperfect and a bit of a beautiful disaster, we hoped, and that was fine with us. It was more about the doing and sharing it together and really celebrating each other and the work we do."

And as amazed as the audience at the Puerta de Alcala was to see West stride onto the stage, well, they weren't nearly half as amazed as Leto and company were. After all, it was sort of a dream come true. For everyone involved.

"I think I had more fun than anyone," Leto laughed. "I was dancing around like a total f---ing freak when 'Power' came on."

MTV NEWSROOM: Kanye West, 30 Seconds To Mars, Rihanna Rule The 2010 MTV EMAs

On Sunday night (November 7), some of the biggest names in music gathered together in Madrid, Spain for the biggest party in Europe. The 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards went live across the continent (and on MTV2), and you can catch them again this Friday night (November 12) at 9 p.m. on MTV. There's an awful lot to look forward to, as there were some big winners (including Lady Gaga, Linkin Park, Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Paramore and Katy Perry), some tremendous performances (from the likes of Rihanna, Kings of Leon, Miley Cyrus and Shakira) and at least one extremely memorable moment (which we'll get to in a bit).

The show, hosted by "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria Parker, was packed from end-to-end with stars, spectacle and an awful lot of pyrotechnics. Parker's entrance was full of smoke and sparks, and things continued that way when Shakira took the stage for the night's first performance. She blew through her new single "Loca" (with an assist from British garage rapper Dizzee Rascal) before launching into her World Cup anthem "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" (an appropriate performance for the nation that won this past summer's soccer tournament).

But the night's true highlight came during the pre-show, when 30 Seconds to Mars took the stage to perform their current single "Hurricane." But they weren't alone, as they welcomed Kanye West to the stage for an assist (a logical move since West collaborated with the band on that song). Following the conclusion of "Hurricane," West blasted through an efficient version of "Power" that got the night started on a truly epic note.
