Currently 30 Seconds to Mars are touring nonstop since 2 years and they have played shows in 60 countries. What started in front of about 1.000 people at the 1LIVE-Sektor, ends, among others, with the tenfold of people at their concert in cologne. So, Jared Leto normally has to be totally exhausted, but he welcomes 1LiVE-Reporter Jörn Behr very relaxed in his Hoody, Sweatpants and light-brown fur flippers and he’s looking forward to his evening meal : Fish.

At the end of an incredible journey.

1LIVE : Last time we met, you were pretty ill...

Jared Leto : Yes, that’s right! I honestly continuously coughed for 8 months. Hard to believe, right? I could never really recover from that, because we had so much stuff to do. But now we’re full of energy again and at the end of an incredible journey.

1LIVE : You are about to play your 300th concert with your record “This is War”. No one ever played so many concerts with just one album. That’s why you will be in “The Guinness Book of Worldrecords”. When did you know you will be in there?

Jared Leto : I can’t remember when and how I got it. But a lot of people told us “It’s insane how many concerts you are playing” and I thought “Aren’t other bands doing the same?”. Obviously not. And someday it has been clear, that we can reach this goal. I thought it might be a great end of the tour. I previously looked for the world’s largest fingernails in the Guinness-Book or for the tallest man. More fun that we will be in it ourselves now.

NO URGE FOR EXTRA-PARTY

1LIVE : How do you celebrate that?

Jared Leto : We will play in New York and also offer a digital ticket for the very first time. So everybody could be a part of it, in high quality. We, as a band, are partying every night on stage anyway. So we don’t have the urge to do an extra-party. Maybe we just go out for dinner or something. We’ll see.

Singer, actor and soon a model?

1LIVE : Are you even in the mood to think about what comes next after touring for 2 years? Maybe an acting role?

Jared Leto : I do not have any real plans. Sure, I always have one or two projects, documentaries and so on. For example, a camera is with us since the beginning of the tour and we will make something out of it. That’s why I’m happy to put more energy into this from now on. I don’t like to just hang around or to lay on the beach that much. I just love to realize my pipe dreams or to organize the chaos.

1LIVE : You are a singer, songwriter, producer, actor and currently we can see you in an advertisement for a fashion label. Is that another territory that might excite you?

Jared Leto : I watched some fashion-shows and it’s fascinating to just have another side of the view. A lot of people are working really hard to entertain the audience-and the show maybe just be 15 minutes long! There is always something going on. And sometimes you can see really great artistic work in that business. Presumably there are some Labels that find me interesting, because I’m one of those rare men who would also wear something really crazy.
It should be the right task for me. But I have enough to do anyway.

ATTENTION, USE OF FIREARMS

1LIVE : If you look back to 2011 now, could you name your personal highlight?

Jared Leto : To play in the Middle East, for example. You look at the audience and see people with Burqas. Such cultural experiences are always great. We saw things that we thought are impossible. We saw the rising sun in the Lebanon, we have been to China and also many times here to Germany. Ever since the concerts we did in summer, we especially learned to love Germany as culturally varied. One time I went jogging after a show and suddenly I stood in the middle of a military area with those “Use of firearms” warning signs! That was incredible! Or we went to the Alps. I always try to see something of the landscape or of the museums in winter. It has been an amazing year. Dankeschön! (Thank You)

Et la trad' !

Les 30 Seconds to Mars sont actuellement en tournée non stop depuis 2 ans et ont joué dans 60 pays. En commençant avec environ 1.000 personnes au 1LIVE-Sektor, cela s'est terminé avec entre autres, dix fois plus de personnes à leur concert à Cologne. Jared Leto est donc évidemment épuisé mais il a accueilli le journaliste de 1LiVE Jörn Behr de manière très relax avec son hoody, son jogging et ses chaussons en fourrure marron clair et il a hâte de manger son diner : du poisson.

A la fin d'un incroyable voyage.

1LIVE : La dernière fois qu'on s'était vu, tu étais pas mal malade...

Jared Leto : Oui, c'est vrai ! Honnêtement, je tousse toujours depuis 8 mois. Difficile à croire hein ? Je n'ai jamais pu vraiment m'en remettre car nous avons trop à faire. Mais là nous sommes remplis d'énergie et à la fin d'un incroyable voyage.

1LIVE : Tu vas bientôt jouer le 300ème concert avec votre album “This is War”. Personne à ce jour n'a joué autant de concerts avec juste un album. Raison pour laquelle vous êtes dans le “The Guinness Book of Worldrecords”. Quand avez-vous su que vous alliez être dedans ?

Jared Leto : Je ne me souviens pas de quand ni comment je l'ai su. Mais beaucoup de gens nous ont dit "C'est fou le nombre de concerts que vous avez joués" et j'ai pensé "Les autres groupes ne font-ils donc pas la même chose ?". De toute évidence, non. Et un jour, ça a été clair que nous avions atteint ce but. J'ai pensé que ça pouvait être une bonne fin de tournée. J'avais déjà regardé le record du monde des plus larges ongles ou de l'homme le plus grand. C'est plus marrant de vois que nous allons être dedans.

Pas d'urgence pour une fête de plus

1LIVE : Comment allez-vous célébrer ça ?

Jared Leto : Nous allons jouer à New York et nous offrons également des tickets virtuels pour la toute première fois. Ainsi tout le monde pourra y participer, en haute définition. En tant que groupe, nous faisons la fête tous les soirs sur scène de toutes façons. Donc nous n'avons pas d'urgence pour une fête de plus. Peut-être sortirons-nous diner ou autre. Nous verrons.

Chanteur, acteur et bientôt mannequin ?

1LIVE : Penses-tu déjà à l'après tournée de 2 ans ? Peut-être un rôle au cinéma ?

Jared Leto : Je n'ai pas vraiment de plans. Bien sûr, j'ai toujours un ou deux projets, des documentaires etc. Par exemple, une caméra nous accompagne depuis le début de la tournée et nous en ferons quelques chose. C'est pourquoi je suis heureux de mettre encore plus d'énergie dedans à partir de maintenant. Je n'aime pas juste me balader ou m'allonger sur la plage. J'aime tout simplement réaliser mes illusions ou organiser le chaos.

1LIVE : Tu es un chanteur, un parolier, un producteur, un acteur et on peut actuellement te voir dans une publicité pour une marque de mode. Est-ce un nouveau domaine qui pourrait t'exciter ?

Jared Leto : J'ai regardé quelques fashion-shows et c'est juste fascinant d'avoir l'autre vision. Beaucoup de gens travaillent très dur pour divertir le public - pour un show de peut-être 15 minutes ! Il y a toujours quelque chose qui se passe. Et parfois, tu peux voir des travaux artistiques de grande qualité dans ce milieu. Il est probable que des marques me trouvent intéressant parce que je fais partie d'un de ces hommes qui porteraient aussi quelque chose de vraiment dingue.
Cela devrait ma vraie tâche. Mais j'en ai déjà assez.

Attention, usage des armes à feu

1LIVE : Si tu fais une rétrospective sur 2011 maintenant, peux-tu nommer tes points culminants personnels ?

Jared Leto : Jouer au Moyen-Orient, par exemple. Tu regardes le public et tu vois des gens avec des Burqas. De telles expériences culturelles sont toujours super. Nous avons vu des choses qu'on pensait impossible. Nous avons vu le soleil levant au Liban, nous avons été en Chine et aussi plusieurs fois ici en Allemagne. Depuis les concerts qu'on a faits en été, nous avons tout particulièrement appris à aimer l'Allemagne aux diverses cultures. Une fois je suis allé courir après un concert et tout d'un coup je me tenais debout au milieu d'une zone militaire avec des panneaux de signalisation "Usage d'armes à feu" ! C'était incroyable ! Ou encore quand nous sommes allés dans les Alpes. J'essaye toujours de voir quelque chose dans le paysage ou des musées en hiver. Cela a été une année incroyable. Dankeschön! (Merci)
